Common Questions about Caprese Avocado Toast

What goes well with avocado toast?

So many things! Besides the classic caprese toppings (tomato, mozzarella, and basil), you can add a poached egg, crispy bacon, red pepper flakes, or a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Some people love adding microgreens or arugula for extra peppery crunch.

How do you keep avocado toast from getting soggy?

Here’s a game-changing tip: toast your bread until it’s really golden and crispy, and give it a light brush of olive oil before adding toppings. Also, make sure to dab those tomato slices with a paper towel to remove excess moisture – this makes a huge difference in keeping everything nice and crisp.

What kind of bread is best for avocado toast?

A hearty, thick-cut sourdough is absolutely perfect for avocado toast! The tangy flavor and sturdy texture can hold up to all those toppings without falling apart. Whole grain bread is another excellent choice that adds extra nutrition and a lovely nutty taste.

How ripe should avocados be for toast?

You want that sweet spot where the avocado yields slightly when gently pressed but isn’t mushy. If you can easily make an indentation with your thumb and it’s dark green under the stem when you pop it off, you’ve got yourself the perfect avocado for spreading.

Delicious recipe! I have been feeling so fancy in the mornings eating this little work of art. I needed to make it without the cheese and it’s still a very satisfying breakfast. Thank you!

This was perfect – very enjoyable! I only had Burrata, which made it so creamy! Will become a new morning staple!
