- It’s great to make ahead of time and enjoy the next day.
- Better than anything you’ll find in the store, it’s perfect for holidays, parties, and more!
Ingredients You’ll Need
We kept the ingredients pretty simple for this peanut butter and chocolate pie recipe. However, to achieve the best peanut butter and chocolate taste, we used a few special items.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Oreo Cookies – Regular Oreos work perfectly well for this recipe. However, we found that these specialty Oreos really blast the flavors to the next level.
- Peanuts – We like to use lightly salted peanuts.
- Unsalted Butter – The peanuts and peanut butter already add much of the salty taste, so stick to unsalted butter for this recipe.
- Creamy Peanut Butter – We like creamy, but you can use chunky for additional crunch.
- Powdered Sugar – This is perfect for adding extra sweetness while creating a light, fluffy texture for the pie filling.
- Cream Cheese – Cream cheese helps create a thick, soft center.
- Milk – Whole milk offers the richest taste, but any percentage you have is fine!
- Whipped Topping – Any kind of whipped topping, like Cool Whip, works wonderfully.
- Peanut Butter Cups – We use classic Reese’s peanut butter cups!
- Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix – If you prefer, homemade pudding can be used as well.
- Chocolate Sauce – This is technically optional, but you can never have enough chocolate, right?!
How to Make the Best Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Recipe – No Whisking Required
With all its layers, this pie might look a little intimidating to make, but we promise it’s a breeze! Just follow the steps below.
- Form the crust. Add the Oreos, peanuts, and melted butter to the bowl of a food processor. Pulse until fine crumbs are formed. Then, gently press the mixture into the bottom of a tart pan, and transfer it to the fridge to chill.
- Combine the creamy peanut butter filling. Add the cream cheese, peanut butter, powdered sugar, and milk to a large mixing bowl, and blend with a spatula until smooth. Add half of the whipped topping, and mix again before folding in the peanut butter cups.
- Create the pudding. In a second large bowl, combine the pudding mix and cold milk, beating well. Set the mixture aside to thicken.
- Layer the pie. Add the peanut butter filling to the prepared pie crust, smoothing it out evenly. Next, spread the chocolate pudding layer on top followed by the remaining whipped topping. Garnish with mini peanut butter cups, peanut butter chips, and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
- Chill and serve. Transfer your pie to the fridge to chill and set. Then, slice and serve when you’re ready to eat!
Flavor Variations
We really like the chocolate peanut butter Oreos as the crust for this recipe, but we understand if you want something different! You can easily replace those with standard Oreos, vanilla Oreos, or any other creme-filled cookie.
You can also replace the peanut butter with hazelnut-chocolate spread for a Nutella-based flavor. Either option is a crowd-pleaser. Don’t blame us if people are begging you for more!
Topping Ideas
This easy chocolate peanut butter pie is as sweet and salty as desserts come! Still, feel free to add additional toppings to make this recipe your own!

- Hot Fudge
- Chocolate syrup
- Peanut Butter Chocolate Chips
- White Chocolate Chips

Common Questions About This Recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie
Yes! You can make this chocolate chip peanut butter pie up to three days in advance, and store it covered in the fridge.
Yes! Pre-made pie crusts are a great way to save time without sacrificing flavor. We recommend opting for an Oreo pie crust or a graham cracker pie crust, but any flavor or variety will work.
Yes, you can easily make mini pies instead of a large one! Simply divide the crust, filling, and pudding between muffin tins or mini tart pans instead of a large pie pan. Then, follow the instructions as listed.
We don’t recommend it. Natural peanut butter tends to separate, which can cause the pie to fall apart or become greasy.

I noticed you refer to the pan used as a tart pan, but the pan shown in your photos is a springform pan and much higher than a tart pan. I assume you ment to say springform pan ???
We’ve found that a tart pan works best!
