Why we love S’mores Stuffed Dates

We are so obsessed with this delicious, yet simple, snack. All you have to do is stuff dates with marshmallows and chocolate chips, then air fry them to perfection. These dates are the perfect balance of melty and chewy. And the graham cracker crumble adds a bit of crunch!

We also love how quickly this snack comes together. It takes so little effort or brain power! That’s what makes it a must-add to your snack rotation. Kids love it, and so do busy parents.

What equipment you need to make S’mores Stuffed Dates

You really just need an air fryer to make these treats. Air fryers are essentially portable convection ovens that you can keep on your countertop for easy access. Unlike deep frying, you don’t need to use a whole bunch of oil to cook food in an air fryer. Instead, the machine circulates hot air to heat up food that sits in a basket.

This is a faster alternative to baking, and a healthy alternative to frying. And you can do so much with an air fryer — it is the most versatile piece of kitchen equipment that we have. That said, if you don’t have one on hand, you can still make these delicious treats. Simply bake in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes.

Why S’mores Stuffed Dates are perfect during Ramadan

If you’re one of the more than 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide observing Ramadan this month, we came up with this recipe as a perfect snack during the month of fasting. If you’re unfamiliar, during Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunup to sundown, with a suhur before dawn and an iftar after dark.

This recipe is perfect because dates are great at helping energize the body thanks to their fiber content. And the touch of marshmallow and chocolate adds sugar to the mix, which can also energize you. But be careful about eating too much sugar because that can lead to a crash later on.

How to make S’mores Stuffed Dates

  1. Slice dates down the middle and remove the pit/seed.
  2. Layer three mini marshmallows on the inside of the date.
  3. Layer a few chocolate chips to the side of the marshmallows.
  4. Arrange them in the basket of the air fryer, with the stuffing faced up! Air fry at 380 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-4 minutes, or until marshmallows are golden and chocolate is melted.
  5. Garnish with crushed graham crackers.
  6. Serve immediately!
